Wow, Sally Ride was the first American woman in space! She was also the youngest. She did not always want to be an astronaut. When she was young, she wanted to play for the Dodgers or be a famous tennis player. But in high school, one teacher showed her how fun science and math could be and so she chose to go to college and study physics and space.
