Jamie and Ned are twins but they don't look like it. While Jamie is tall and sturdy Ned is small and spindly because he has cystic fibrosis. The brothers have always been an inseparable pair, so much so that now that Ned is too sick to go to school, both brothers are being home schooled by their parents and grandfather. The sound of Ned's coughing and wheezing has increased in recent weeks. Their mom cries all the time when she thinks no one is around. Ned is feeling that he only has a few adventures left before the cystic fibrosis takes him. All the more reason why they decide to capture the strange sea creature they discover that has washed up to shore after the last storm. What is this creature?
