Prickly Hedgehogs!

Jane McGuinness
Description
Did you know hedgehog spines are made out of the same stuff as your fingernails? Or that a baby hedgehog is called a hoglet? Hedgehog and her babies teach the reader facts about hedgehogs as they prepare to hibernate for the winter. Cute illustrations, the perfect medium of bug level (enough to satisfy the kids who pick up bugs on the playground, with enough non-bug content to avoid totally grossing out the other kids), and a short, simplified index in the back make this a great book. The coloring of the illustrations is a little textured, and vaguely dirty, but in a charming way which suits the subject matter well. Guest Reviewer: C. Sibel
