Addicted to Her
Description
Local author Janet Nichols Lynch has written a very enjoyable story of young love and how easily it blinds us from the truth. Rafa is a junior in high school whose life has not always been easy but it has been planned: work to help his family, do well in school and win a wrestling scholarship. Beautiful Monique changes his life plan. She is the girl of his dreams and when she needs to be rescued from her racist boyfriend, Rafa steps in and gets the girl. He falls hard, his love boarding on obsession. He soon quits wrestling, working, and lies to family and friends, who try to warn Rafa away from selfish Monique. Although Rafa begins to see Monique's faults, he cannot stay away. Additional story lines about their family situations add to the characters development and growth. The book is accessible and the characters words and actions are genuine. Those of us from a Mexican American or immigrant background who have grown up in the rural towns of the San Joaquin Valley will connect with the characters and the storyline.
