Daniel Half Human

David Chotjewitz
Description
Until 1933, Daniel lives a very privileged life in Germany. He lives in a beautiful home in the best neighborhood and attends one of the best schools in the city. His father is a war-hero and well-respected lawyer. His best friend is Armin, a scholarship student at his school. Daniel has been warned to stay away from Armin, especially after they get caught for painting a swastika on a building in the hated communist section of Hamburg. In their cell, Armin and Daniel cut their wrist and swear a blood oath of eternal brotherhood. Everything changes in a heartbeat when Daniel learns his mother is Jewish. This makes Daniel half Jewish, and according to the law: half-human. He tries to keep it a secret but it becomes more and more difficult as the political and social tides turn against the Jews. Armin and Daniel find it harder and harder to remain friends during the war. At wars end, each friend holds the future of the other in his hands
