Efren is a carefree, Mexican-American boy. He shares a bed with the twins, his younger siblings. Every day his mother walks them to school. Even though, Efren is a middle schooler and would rather walk alone. One afternoon, he returns home from school to find that his mother is missing. A neighbor fills him in on the truth. While his mother was applying for a new factory job, ICE arrested her. Efren struggles to take care of his siblings, the household, and his school work. When tragedy strikes again, he'll have to cross over and find his mother himself.
