Description
Fred Koresmatsu spoke up when he saw something that wasn’t right. Fred was like so many young Americans in the 1940s. He liked music, hanging out, and playing tennis. His whole life changed when Japan and the US went to war in 1941. As a Japanese-American, Fred was ordered to take only what he could carry and report to a distant prison camp. This was happening all along the west coast to Americans of Japanese descent. Fred would not go! He knew that as American citizen he had rights. He was thrown and jail and thus began his journey for freedom. Fred Koresmatsu Speaks Up is the story of how one person can fight discrimination and make America fair for all it’s citizens.
