You can't have less going for you than Cameron Smith. He is sixteen, has no car, has poor grades, has a beautiful stuck up twin sister in stark contrast to himself, and no friends to speak of other than the stoners who hang out in the fourth floor bathroom. Things couldn't get much worse, or could they? He has just been diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob's disease, also known as Mad Cow disease. It's incurable and fatal. With death looming in his near future, Cameron sets out on a cross country adventure to find the meaning of what life he has left and maybe a cure.
