Jaffy Brown is mauled by a tiger when he tries to pet it, and survives! After meeting the tiger's owner, Mr Jamrach, he sets out to work in his menagerie of exotic animals. Everyone comes to Jamrach when they want an exotic animal of any sort. As time goes on, a Mr. Fledge wants a dragon that has been seen off the coast of the Java Sea.
