Suzanna "Zanna" Snow has always wanted to be a detective like her UncleBruce in Boston. She keeps a pencil and notebook with her always to record her observations. So far, she has been unable to solve any mysteries or crimes because in the small coastal town of Loch Harbor, New Bruswick nothing exciting ever happens. Most of her time is spent learning the how to be a "proper lady" at the Rosemount Hotel her parents manage. Zanna's unexciting life takes a turn when a young hotel guest goes missing during a storm. She has clues that could help solve the crime but no one believes her.
