Jacob grew up hearing fantastical stories from his grandfather, Abe. They were about a remote island off the coast of Wales on which there was a castle filled with peculiar children that could levitate, hold fire and be invisible. When Jacob is 16, he faces a terrible family tragedy that leads him to believe that Abe's stories were not all fairy tales. Jacob decides to visit the island and see the castle for himself. He discovers a castle in ruins but also evidence of a group of peculiar children that lived there once and might still be living. Are these children alive and if so, how are they still children? What is Jacob and Abe's connection to these "peculiars"?
