Jon Krakauer, author of Into the Wild, has written a new engrossing novel that documents the experiences of several college women who were raped in Missoula and the aftermath in dealing with the justice system. Krakauer chronicles how the university, police, district attorney's office and the community treat these women after the rapes were reported. The author states that the town and university of Missoula is not unique but just an instance of what is occurring in a majority of college campuses. Missoula was an eye-opener and causes the reader to examine their own beliefs about rape. For instance, the victims are judged harshly for drinking before the rapes, but the rapist use their over drinking as an excuse for their behavior. Missoula is an engaging novle that is hard to put down.
