Graphic artist Clay Jannon is a victim of the recession. He has lost his dream job and found another in a very strange book store. Open 24 hours, he is given the night shift. There a very few customers; however, there are eccentric "members" who show up at all hours to borrow the strange books that fill most of the store on shelves that are at least 2 stories high. The "members" allude to puzzles they are solving using the books. Clay is determined to find out the secret to these books and the book store. He and his friends use sophisticated technology try to decipher the secrets in the store and in the books. They bring their findings to Mr. Penumbra who tells them there is more to the story.
