The Only Ones

Aaron Starmer
Description
Martin Maple has never led a normal life. He has always had to spend time alone or under the instruction of his father because of the machine. Martin's father is building a machine that will change the world, but as such no one can know about it. So Martin lives on a secluded island hidden from the other inhabitants, completely autonomously. Not an ordinary life, but Martin's odd life only gets stranger when his father leaves for a trip to the mainland and never returns. As Martin begins to investigate he discovers that everyone on his island has disappeared. He doesn't have to hide any more, but what to do? Where have all the people gone, and what about his father's machine? Does it matter any more?
