When twins Kiera and Minni King were born they were famous. Not only were they born in a plane, Kiera was black like her mother and Minni was white like her father. They may have different color skin but Kiera and Minni are not only sisters, they are best friends and are always there for each other. Their closeness is put to the test when they fly from the Pacific Northwest back South to stay with their stern Grandma Johnson who has entered them in Miss Black Pearl Preteen of America pageant. . Kiera, who is outgoing and fun, can't wait to compete for the title, but Minni is much more shy and scared. She is treated badly by the other girls because she doesn't look "black."
