Saint Iggy

K.L. Going
Description
Iggy was thrown out of school and nobody cares. Not his mom, who is living in a meth house, or his dad stoned on the couch. The social worker can't call because the phone has been disconnected again. The thing is Iggy is not a bad kid and does not want to be kicked out of school for good. His principal tells him that "You've had a lot to overcome...but....We can all...do something that contributes...." Iggy decides in that moment to find a way back into school. "Something to contribute" becomes Iggy's mantra. He turns to Mo, his college dropout mentor, for help only to find that Mo has become hooked on drugs. When Mo decides to visit his wealthy mother for the holidays, Iggy tags along and finds the maternal love his life has been missing. Despite the foreboding, readers will still be surprised by the ending but not by Iggy's heroic efforts to change his fate.
