Description
What is in a face? Its what's on the inside that really counts, right? Auggie Pullman would disagree with you. His face has been disfigured since birth, and while surgery after surgery XXX to be exact, has allowed him to eat and breath unaided, it has done nothing for his looks. Auggie wonders what it would be like, if people didn't turn away repulsed at the sight of him. What would it be like to be normal or even invisible. His favorite day of the year is Halloween, when he can wear a mask and experience being normal in public. Home-schooled up to this point, Auggie's mom wants him to go to fifth grade at a regular school. She feels he has been too sheltered, and needs to find his way in society. Is fifth grade ready for Auggie? Is Auggie ready to overcome his disfigurement and try to make friends outside of his family?
