Kobi and Brook Alighieri have been living with their Grandmamma in Paris since the unfortunate disappearance of their parents at sea five years ago. They are home schooled and spend most of their days in the company of Grandmamma and Madame Louise her housekeeper. All the while Kobi holds out hope that her parents will one day return. In fact she is counting on it as a result of a little bit of magic her mother gave her before she disappeared.
